  • Tapoco Lodge Says:

Tapoco Lodge welcomes the SCCA to the area. We are currently undergoing major renovations, but hopefully we can be open by the time you all get here. Thanks for choosing Graham County.

  • Scott Franklin Says:

1000 (yes, ONE THOUSAND) feet of elevation change over 2.2 miles. That’s 455 vertical feet per mile!!
I’ll be there in some capacity (hopefully behind the wheel, but I’ll be where I’m needed)

  • Ken Owens Says:

I’m SO there! Thanks to all responsible for planning this event! Can’t imagine anything less than a fantastic turnout!

What is the pit area like, can we leave
our Trailers in a secured area..
How far is it from the Fontana Lodge?

  • Tristan Says:

What stretch of road is this exactly?

  • Mitch Wagner Says:

I’ll see y’all at the Finish Line!

  • Don Drennon Says:

I believe we are using the last 4.2 miles of County Rd. 1127: Santeetlah Rd. Spectators and paddock on the bottom half.

My understanding is the plan is to paddock on the road itself, but I’d prefer someone better informed speak on that.

  • Brian Gause Says:

Paddock will be on the right side of the course road covering the last quarter mile before start. There will be a secured trailer lot at the campground area.

  • lance russell Says:

where is info on who’s who and signing up for workers, drivers?

  • HPIguy Says:

Does anyone know what the rules concerning spectators will be? As in, are spectators allowed along the course WRC style?

  • HPIguy Says:

I don’t mean jumping in front of the cars like those crazies in Europe, but standing somewhere safe behind a guardrail, etc to take photographs would be awesome.

  • Don Drennon Says:

Lance: Wondered if anybody had gotten in touch with you-check w/ Ted Theodore.

HPIguy: Spectators will be allowed in designated areas. There will also be concessions on-site.

  • HPIguy Says:

    Awesome, thank you Mr. Drennon

  • Mark Hughes Says:

Now I have to get another race car!

  • Rick Mitchell Says:

I will be there at start.

  • lance russell Says:

don i will be glad to work a corner for you as will my son and david melton. contact me @ quattrosouth@belsouth.net

  • Ken Downey Says:

Sounds awesome, will try and be there

  • Don Drennon Says:

    Volunteer info in the forums.

  • Xlll Says:

    Whats needed to compete?

  • potential spectator Says:

what kind of cars can we spectators expect to see here? Powerful stuff like GTR’s and porsches or more on the weaker end of the power spectrum? FWD, RWD, AWD?

    Please let us know, thanks!

  • rich.little Says:

Check out the photo galleries from previous events - http://www.ccrscca.com/photo-galleries/

Everything from Miata’s to Camaros, hillclimb specials… all kinds of cars.

  • HPIguy Says:

One more question; I’m hearing that spectators are only going to be allowed in areas at the start and finish, and not along the race course. Can anyone confirm this, or can anyone more clearly define where the designated spectator areas will be? Thank you

  • Anonymous Says:

HPIguy: Your information is not accurate: Spectators will be permitted on the course. However, the number of places on the course where spectators can stand is severely limited by terrain.

  • Anonymous Says:

Schedule: Getting a number of questions about the schedule-please look here. http://myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.ShowFlyer?psevent_id=12413

  • Goose Says:

I haven’t been to a hillclimb since the Chimney Rock days, will this event be on par with that as far as spectator numbers and variety of vehicle classes goes? Is Boland still around with his snowmobile powered mini formula car? I plan on making this day a birthday gift to my son who used to love Chimney Rock and am hoping it’ll be the same.

  • potential spectator Says:

Does anyone know if and how many rally cars will attend? I heard from another site that at least two will be there, can anyone confirm?

And this is an all-asphalt track right? Can anyone tell me if there will be any dirt-track/true-rally events anytime soon reasonably close to NC?

just some random questions but would be great if they were answered, Thanks

  • Graham Co NC Chamber Says:

Please let us know how we can be of assistance. I am posting the event on our FB chamber page and encouraging our local businesses to post something if they can help with lodging, eats, treats, etc…

  • Don Drennon Says:

Last I heard two rally cars entered: Possibly more depending on outcome of an event this weekend. Course is all-asphalt. Only rally event I am familiar with is Sandblast in Feb. Near Patrick, SC.

  • Adam Says:

Amazing. I really wish I still had my hill car.. I’d love to just drive this road, but actually RACE it? wow.. Good luck to the ones that do!

  • Adam Says:

@Goose, Boland still runs with the PaHillClimb series. PAHillclimb.org

  • Ted Theodore Says:

Thanks to ALL for your interest in this event. Chimney Rock ran from 1956 to 1995. We miss it dearly and hope to return there one day. This is a new site and the first time we have run it. It’s the longest hillclimb in SE US at 2.2 miles. You will see a wide range of cars as mentioned and George Bowland sent his apologies but he is traveling out west. Otherwise, he would be here. You can also enjoy watching John Finger run his Reynard Special at this event in a specials class of three this year. You can bet George will be here next year! Three ladies will be competing for the Queen of the Hill DRAGONSLAYER sword.
Free admission, food, fun and a great weekend with racing friends. Come on up!

  • Goose Says:

Thanks Ted, my son and I are planning to come.

  • Terry Houser Says:

I ran the Chimney Rock Hillclimb in 84,85,86 & Grandfather Mountain 85 & 86 and I am really looking forward to being at the first Robbinsville Hillclimb but unfortunately as a spectator. Hope to see some old friends.
