SWCCCR March Meeting

Posted by rich.little, March 10, 2011

March 10, 2011

The Central Carolinas Region of SCCA cordially invites you to our monthly meeting on March 10th at Quaker Steak & Lube on Chrome Drive (just off Garlington Road and Woodruff Road). We will eat from 6 to 7 and meet from 7 to 8:30.

We will be covering recent events for motorsports in our area autocrosses with CCR/SCR/CSCC and plans for upcoming events including Clemson Motorsports Festival, USC Car Club show, Memorial Monster and possible CCR event for road racers at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Any one with items for sale or trade please bring a full description and pricing.

Back in the old days, a damper and a spring were mounted on each corner of the car between the wheels and the frame. The springs expanded and contracted to absorb shock from road surface and the damper kept the spring from shaking the body excessively and restrained the spring. Modern day shock systems are incredibly more complex and do so much more than just absorb shock. Our speaker for this evening is Nic Langford. Nic is a test engineer for Ohlins Advanced Suspension Technology and he will speaking on Suspension Technology, how dampers work and how they use vehicle dynamics and simulators to tune suspension set ups. He will be bringing some hands on parts and do some demonstrations of the Ohlins product for our group. Whether you are a road racer, autocrosser or just love sports cars, I think you will find this presentation very beneficial. Technology moves fast and this is a good chance to learn and see cutting edge direction things are headed!

Thanks. Look forward to seeing you at Quaker Steak & Lube.
