Ted promised a BIG meeting this month and I think you will be pleased when you hear the speaker’s topic. Our meeting will be held Thursday, May 13th at Quaker Steak and Lube on Chrome Dr. next to Harley Davidson dealer near Woodruff Road in Greenville, SC We will eat from 6 to 7, meet from 7 to 8:30. We will have a parking area boxed off to the side so polish up your ride and show it! The manager there told me customers always like looking through the lot at our cars on meeting nights!
We will get an update on recent events in autocross, Time trials and road races. a Few special reports are planned. We’ll try to keep the meeting short to save time for our guest speakers.
If you have not read or heard about it recently… there is a new race track being planned to be built in South Carolina near Gaffney. It may well be the longest road course in North America. Matt Mullins and Bill Conger will be presenting to our group their plans for Racers Paradise. THIS is BIG news for all of us… and I am very appreciative to Matt and Bill for choosing to release this information to the motorsport’s community through our SWCCCR chapter meeting. You can expect a crowd so come EARLY. Hope to see you there.
More information about the track can be found on www.thesoutherndriver.com
We had a request from the restaurant to have some race cars on display. If anyone has a race prepared car they would like to bring to display, please email Ted.

Don’t forget the SWCCCR Meeting this thursday night at Quaker Steak and Lube! We’ll eat from 6 to 7 and meet from 7 to 8:30.
We will have recap on CMP CCPS TT and PDX weekend, VIR race weekend, future events including Little Talledega GP Time Trial, Auto Fair at Lowe’s Motorspeedway, CCR Novice Driving School and Autocross, Clemson Autocross and Motorports Festival Plans.
And we look forward to hearing from our members what THEY have been up to as well!
Our speaker will be this week - ME! The topic is The Future of Southeastern Motorsports. I’d like to talk about what’s available today, where we are now and what I see as the future directions we’ll be heading. Do we need tighter controls, more or less events, more rules, less classes? How do you get from autocross to Time Trial or from Time Trial to Road racing? How important are sponsors to our clubs and individual drivers? This will be a presentation and a discussion… I’d like to hear from some of our members on these topics. I think this is a meeting you will enjoy.
Thanks and we’ll look forward to seeing you there. If there are 8 people interested, after the meeting, we’ll head around the corner to Frankie’s Fun Park for some carting. I’ll get our discount set up in advance.
Thanks
Ted
