Welcome WRHC sponsors Learning Curve Racing and CHAP LLC!

Learning Curve Racing – Learning Curve Racing is a new company founded by Steve Cooke (BMW and Skip Barber Driving Instructor, SAARC driver). LCR provides personal coaching services for drivers wanting to raise the level of their competitive driving skills. Steve feels that to improve you have to look at the car and driver as a system rather than separate components. Not all problems can be solved tuning the car or by just training the driver. Being able to do trackside tuning and setup changes to the car while offering detailed analysis and feedback to the driver, the best improvement can be realized in one and two day sessions. Steve will not be able to attend Wolf Ridge but will have flyers available at the event. rxracer@juno.com Steve Cooke (864) 320-4586
CHAP LLC - Steve Hampton will be present at Wolf Ridge Hillclimb. Steve offers automotive industry race car design, fabrication and tuning along with industrial manufacturing assistance in prototype, machine design and fabrication. http://www.chapllc.net/index.html Steve Hampton (864) 915-1776

Wolf Ridge Hillclimb Registration

Full event details are at the Wolf Ridge Hillclimb web site - http://www.wolfridgehillclimb.com/

Registration for the Wolf Ridge Hillclimb is now open! Please visit MyAutoEvents to register.

The Wolf Ridge Hillclimb is the culmination of several years worth of hard work to bring a hillclimb back into the Western NC area.  We feel that this event could potentially be greater than the famed Chimney Rock Hillclimb.  The site is challenging yet fun and also safe.

The hillclimb is just under 2 miles in length, and has approximately 800 feet in elevation change from the starting area to the finish at the top of the mountain.  The course has two large, wide sweeping turns nearing 180 degrees.  Views from the top of the mountain are absolutely breath-taking, as can be seen in the photo galleries page.

The site is located only 5 minutes from a major highway, I-26 from Tennessee to North Carolina, has easy access to fuel (stanard 93 octane pump fuel.)  And has lodging available only seconds away from the hillclimb site.

BANNER ELK, NC - At the Second Annual Rock-N-Road Hill Climb at the Lodges at Eagles Nest John Finger, whose racing career includes multiple wins at the Chimney Rock Hill Climb and the 24 Hours of Daytona, returned to hill climbing in dramatic fashion. With little time left and “King of the Hill” honors in hand he loaded up his Riley Protofab Super Vee only to see his victory being snatched away by fellow Greenville, SC resident Gary Ramsey in his Cobra replica. Finger then unloaded his car for one last run and was able to recapture the crown. “I really had to pedal hard for this one.” said Finger, “I’m on top of the hill, not over it.” Finger’s winning time was 1:28.368, one and a half seconds faster than Ramsey. For Ramsey, whose background is decades of circle track racing, it was only his second attempt at a hill climb in a car that he builds and sells; the ‘66 Cobra Replica.

The top street-legal car was a 2006 Subaru WRX STI driven to, from and at the event by Steven Rankins with a time of 1:34.733, good for seventh overall.

The closest competition of the weekend was in C-Street Prepared class where Jeremy Cox edged defending CSP Champ Willie Stock by .059 seconds in a back and forth battle that saw Cox’s car go down with mechanical problems on Saturday afternoon only to be fixed by noon Sunday and return to action. It was Cox’s first hill climb win.
